Tadeo and Christel sat down together to eat, then the two of them went to bed. Christel spent a while in the shower while Tadeo spent all that time reminiscing his past. It started off with flashback of when Tadeo was in BoB, when he fought alongside Reku and Shadic, when he trained with Big Shot, and when he trained with Shadic and Big Shot. All those times they spent together, Tadeo ended up recalling, and it put him down a little bit.
What happened to us? What exactly happened to make it turn out this way.
Tadeo couldn't bear it for much longer. His thoughts changed to something he didn't want to remember more than his times in the Alliance. Suddenly, Tadeo recalled painful memories of his family. He recalled a time before the events of their murder, when one of his older brothers left the family. He recalled the day of their murder, and how each of his family members were killed. He remembered the murderers, their names and some of their faces. Tadeo even recalled the events that took place merely a year ago, when he encountered Alexis at a mall and tried to pursue her, in order to eliminate her. He recalled it's failure and how he's too weak to face any of them now. Then, the vision that played before he first went Super Saiyan replayed in his head.
"Goodbye, Thaddeus. Tell your old man I give him my regards."
Tadeo's Ki spiked a little bit after recalling that man's voice. He summoned a Shadow Blade and frighteningly tried to swing it in front of him, but stopped about halfway there. The Saiyan held the blade out there for a little while, breathing a little bit heavily, then he returned the blade to his shadow and leaned forward on the bed with his hands clenched onto it.
"You need to get back onto the field. That's the only way to extinguish the fear."
Tadeo turned around to his shadow. The shadow had glowing green eyes now, and took the form of a familiar Demon. Eryx had portrayed himself using Tadeo's shadow.
"I'm not ready yet."
"That's a lie. If you get back onto the field now, you'll be more than ready."
"I'm too weak, Eryx."
"If you get back onto the field, you'll become stronger. That's the only way to conquer your fear of being too weak. Training alone will not suffice for much longer."
"You think I don't know that? And what have you been doing to help out, huh?"
"I can do very little to assist you, Tadeo."
"You know, it's very funny how your dialect changed so suddenly since earlier today."
"That is unimportant, right now. What matters at hand is your current mental state. You're beginning to get clumsy, lazy, and more scared than ever. Why do you hesitate to persist them for so long?"
"You should know this, Eryx. We're both the same person now, aren't we?"
"I do know this, however, I want to hear it from your mouth."
Tadeo paused hesitantly for a few moments, gathering his thoughts. He needed to reconcile his feelings in order to have some sort of bliss and rationality inside him.
"You and I both know what happened last time, since I was too weak. If I keep dying every time I face Tuksen because I'm too weak, then what if I never become strong enough to kill him? What if I never become strong enough to avenge my family? That's my problem, Eryx."
"Then you, as well as I, know what the best solution to this problem is, Tadeo. Get back onto the field. Train yourself with actual challenges and quests. There are Demons out there you can fight to bring up your strength, or better yet, pursue your family's killers. That will be the ultimate way to increase your power."
There was a slight pause between the Demon and the Saiyan.
"You know I'm right, Tadeo. Put it into action."
Eryx was right. Tadeo knew that Eryx was right. The green Demon slowly faded away in Tadeo's shadow and back into Tadeo's body. Tadeo had to make up his mind at that moment, and he made it up to revive the anger and persistence inside himself, and to pursue his targets again. Training like this won't get him anywhere for too long, he needed to act soon.
I'll leave that action for another day. Right now, my priority is to get Edgy and Mephisto safely to their destination. I cannot have guests die on me like that.
Tadeo, who'd already taken a shower by the time Christel got into it, threw himself into bed, arms crossed behind his head and eyes closing shut. Just then, the door to the bathroom opened, and Christel came from the hallway wearing nothing but a towel. Usually, she'd take her clothes with her to the bathroom, out of modesty and embarrassment if Tadeo ended up seeing her naked. More than one person was taking a new initiative tonight. Flustered a little, Tadeo looked the other way.
"Christel, what're you doing?"
"Shut up. We've been living together for over a year now and nothing else has really happened since then. We're taking things too slow."
"Yeah, but changing gears so quickly is a bit uncalled for."
"That doesn't matter. At the very least, I'm sleeping with you half naked."
"Go right ahead, that'd make me feel great."
"You're taking at least your shirt off, too."
"Aw, come on. Why do I have to?"
"Just do it!"
"Never thought I'd feel so threatened to go to bed with a girl who was half naked."
Christel gave Tadeo a glare, telling him he was about to cross the line. Quickly, Tadeo changed his attitude and threw his shirt off. By this time, Christel already had her underwear on and was about to walk to the bed. The couple put themselves in bed, blushing the whole way through, and fell asleep just like that, nothing else happening.
