James heard her mention the activity if the Red Ribbon army. It was indeed strange how quite they had been, but it did make sense. "Yeah, the army is and has always been pretty quite. For the last one hundred years, they have been in hiding. Building themselves a small army of androids and Bio-soldiers, they have tried to kill me and retake Gero's lab on a couple different occasions. Long story short, now that I work for the government it's my job to take these guys down." The elevator reached the final floor, and the doors slowly began to open. Inside was a giant room, with hundreds of cryo-pods and science stations. Jay looked around the lab, and explained "They had to evacuate, and leave their small army behind... I'll try to find the controls to take these things off life support, then they'll all die. Heartless killing machines..." he began to walk toward a computer console, when another pair of red eye lit up from the shadows of the room. They belonged to another android in a suit, and several other suit wearing androids started to appear behind him. "Try not to break your arm this time." Jay jokingly commented.
"Quick question than, do you have any idea where their power source might be?" She decided to wait until she had a response before turning down time, but, she did take up relatively defensive stance that she learned from a year of relatively frequent bar fights with drunken people.
"Because, honestly, that would be a lot easier than just hitting things at damn near light speed, because not much of anything can really stand up to that kind of force, probably this arm armor included really."
James heard Holly's question and explained "These androids work off the infinite energy matrix. Meaning they have a supply of energy buried inside their chest." on of the androids then began to rush at the two of them, and began trading blows with Jay. That's when the other four androids ran in as well, all of them throwing combos of punches and kicks at him. James got lucky and grabbed one of their legs, he then threw the android into another. Jay began breathing rabidly, usually this would be a cake walk for him, but these androids were particularly strong. If Holly were to check her scouter, then she would see the number five thousand listed next to each android. James coughed shouting over to Holly "Get the control panel over there. It will stop more from waking up, probably."
"Well, that definitely would be a tricky thing to steal." She said, dropping time as slow as she could take it. And like that the robots were moving in slow motion, still a lot faster than she was used to things moving in that state.
But, since they were moving like molasses up a hill, she just walked over to the terminal.
From there, there were a lot of buttons, and a seemingly ancient OS. She typed out Tasklist and got a few thousand programs running, none of them seeming particularly important.
So, rather than waste time guessing which one was the master control switch, she typed out Taskkill/*/F which, assuming that all was going well, should have shut down every running program on the server, including networked androids that weren't active.
Holly had initiated a mass shut down of all computer systems, each pod began to shut off one by one. As for Jay, he was still occupied fighting off the small crew of androids. He grabbed the skull of one of them and greatly crushed it, causing the rest of it's body to explode. The remaining robots flew into the air, and began firing Ki blasts at James. They didn't damage him too much, but Jay was taking heavy fire, and was unable to move. "Holly, if you can shoot any beams this would be a good time!" Jay asked as he blocked the bolts of energy. That's when James got an idea, he reached his left hand towards Holly, while blocking with his right. A small red beam of energy fired from his hand to the ground beneath her, and a Military issued grenade appeared at her feet. "If you can shoot beams, at least throw that!" He shouted over the sounds of Ki blasts tearing threw the facility.
Holly heard noises coming from James, but they were so slow she could barely understand them. She has half started to move by the time he got to creating a grenade near her, and it took her a whole second in her personal time to realize that it wasn't loaded, and what was happening.
So, by the time he had gotten to saying that she should throw it, it was already lobbed at the center of the group. Or, slam dunked is more accurate, since throwing it in slowed down time would have caused it to go long, she jumped in the air and tossed it as hard as she could. And as the explosion started she turned timeback so hard that she felt something break in her head and she rewound time without the world changing, leaving her back over by James without so much as a scratch on her.
The grenade which Holly lobbed had worked, the Androids stopped firing as the small explosion went off. It didn't truly damage them, but it distracted them just long enough for Jay to attack. A normal person would have only seen James disappear and reappear in the center of the androids, but Holly would see more of moderate speed run. As he got into the center, he began punching and kicking multiple androids. Their parts were flying across the room, until the last one had hit the floor. "I think that's the last of them." Jay huffed. As he said this, Holly's scouter would go off indicating another much more powerful android was near by.
"Well, there's still whoever was behind activating this facility." Holy said, temporarily returning time to normal so that she could communicate. "In fact, it's probably the thing that just showed up on this energy ready thing, and I'm not sure what these numbers mean, but it's a pretty high one, and I doubt that that is good."
So, Holly, not particularly wanting to head in the direction of the killer robot, just kind of hung around near the elevator and nursed the sprain in her brain from literally breaking time.
James heard Holly warn him about the large power level and the person who created the facility. James soon sensed it, it was a power radiating from the back of the room. A loud laugh could be heard as a Bio-Warrior walked out of the shadows, it was a humanoid with no hair, and purple skin. "Well, who might you be?" James asked. The warrior cracked it's neck, and spoke "They call me Guardian, I was left here to protect the remaining androids... It appears that I have failed. Now you must die." the creature rushed forward toward James, and kicked him across the room. Coughing, James sat up saying "Looks like I can't hold back"
(Well, I'm going to get off my ass and actually post, since I've spent a bit less than 50% playing Mass Effect Andromeda since tuesday, but I was also putting it off because I have basically nothing to do.)
"Well... You go ahead and deal with that... I'll be, over here." Holly said, diving for the elevator to work on manually restoring it and not have to deal with the exceedingly large thing that just winded someone who was faster than her ability to slow down time, though she did find it strange that there was a robot designed to serve as a guardian to this place, and barely any security measures protecting the security consoles, or even now the elevator was pretty standard security for a group that wanted to take over the world, it was like they put all their eggs in the robot basket, and just outsourced security to the cheapest possible home company and hoped nobody would notice.
