Character's Name: Pico Alberto
Nickname(s): Quantum
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Appearance/Picture: Pico himself is nothing too special. He stands at 5'7" and has a slender build. He has messy black hair, blue eyes, and has maintained a slender, 185lb build. Some people during his junior year noticed the teen's insane muscle mass, so he and Shadic focused on keeping him slim yet fit. There are an assortment of clothes Pico can wear, but he can usually be found wearing a generic t-shirt, track jacket, and some pair of pants or shorts. One thing he always wears, however, is a Rolex watch that was a gift from his father. That can always be found around his left wrist.
When Pico wants to go fight crime, he puts on his costume and becomes Quantum; a man with no fears. The Quantum costume is mostly black with gold accents running along the body. His mask is also black with a red, four limbed starfish-like object across the forehead, eyebrows, and bridge of the nose. The eyes on the mask glow white to better hide Pico's identity. All of this, and more, can be seen in the image at the top of the sheet. Since he's grown five inches since becoming the superhero, the costume has had some size increases during the time skip. Other than that, it remains exactly the same.
Race: Human
Alignment: Lawful Good
Personality: Pico is a good kid with big ambitions. He wants to be the President of Earth one day, so he spends a lot of time in school participating in activities that may help with that career field. He is in debate, which has led to a more charismatic and logical Pico. He is in all sorts of honors classes and often can be found doing homework if he isn't fighting crime. The kid is just always exciting and loves making new friends. More importantly, and once again, he is ambitious. So ambitious, in fact, that he puts his life on the line to fight crime around South City, Earth, and hopefully, the entire universe.
Once Pico finally became Quantum, that aspect of his life consumed his thoughts. He was less focused on school because he wanted to get out and defend the planet. Quantum's voice is deeper than Pico's, but just barely. Unless somebody was really listening, they almost sounded like different people. Pico just wants to help in any way he can, but even though he's been at it for a few years now, the teen still makes a lot of silly mistakes.
During the time skip, Pico became a lot more levelheaded and mature. He uses the information he learns in school to help his crime fighting skills, and it lets him ramble even more than ever.
In short, Pico loves to have fun and is easily excited by just about anything, even after maturing. Though, through intense training with Shadic and Azuki during the timeskip, he has lost his inexperience tag
History: Up until just recently, Pico Alberto was just a regular freshman in South City High School. He had a good family, many friends, and an overall normal life. At school he strived to be near the top of his class, spending a lot of time either studying or participating in extra curricular activities. Politics fascinated him, so the whole thing going on with the South City election was a blast.
Originally, he wanted Edgy Bitch to become the councilwoman of the city, because in his opinion Skylar simply was not fit for the job. When Skylar basically killed Edgy in cold blood, Pico was both confused and curious. The then councilwoman seemingly fired a ball of energy from her hand stronf enough to destroy a large sword like the one Edgy had. How could that be? To find out, Pico got to work.
Every chance he got, when he wasn't focused on school or politics, was spent in the library researching this energy. After a few weeks, Pico knew a lot more about it. The energy turned out to be Skylar's ki, something that took a lot of training and effort to master. There were dozens of people who actually learned how to use this to their advantage, some myths and legends of old, some alive to this day. Something about a Turtle Hermit and some sort of wave. Crazy stuff, really.
Pico tried to use the internet to learn as much about ki as possible, mostly because he wanted to be a part of that. It seemed fun, exciting, and most importantly, critical to protecting innocent lives. He started training using some online blogs written by a certain 'Brand Herman,' who claimed to be an expert on the matter.
His desire to train was further increased after the terrorist attack on South City. One of his good friends lost a parent in that attack, and he didn't want something like that to ever happen again. The heroes of that attack - Shadic, Sonnelion, and Sythius - were praised around the school, since the terrorist was just a few blocks away from the education institution.
Pico idolized the Shadic guy in particular. He seemed to genuinely want to protect the planet, using his ki powers for good! If Pico had the opportunity to meet him, maybe he, too, could join the fight. As fate would have it, the boy met his idol just a few days later.
Shadic stuck around South City, helping with reconstruction on the damaged buildings and such, so one day as school was getting out, Pico spotted him installing a window. The boy pestered Shadic for minutes, trying to convince him to train him until he was able to go out on his own.
At first, the hybrid declined, not wanting the boy or his family to get hurt. So, Pico had to think of a plan to convince the fighter. Using his knowledge of super heroes and such, the boy figured his best bet would be to create an alter ego who could be the powerful fighter while he lived his regular life. The only problem was that he didn't know how to create a costume or anything like that.
Enter his friend, Presta. Despite being a freshman, she was easily one of the smartest people in the whole school. If anybody could help in this situation, it was her. Plus, Pico trusted her more than anybody. Of course, Presta knew what to do. Within days, she developed the perfect costume for Pico to wear. It was aerodynamic, it was kind of flashy but not too flashy, it was basically perfect!
A week after their original encounter, Pico approached Shadic once again, this time as Quantum. The name kind of just came to him as he thought about protecting space and stuff, nothing too symbollic or anything. Reluctantly, Shadic promised to train the kid until he was strong enough to fend for himself. But, there were some ground rules he had to follow: Only Quantum can be the hero, not Pico; lay low, stick to petty crimes and simple stuff. Leave the aliens to him. "The world is a dangerous place with creatures that don't care about your well-being. Playing hero is a lot scarier than the movies and comics make it out to be. By choosing the life of a hero, you're essentially putting everybody else before yourself, and that can be hard to do. This is my last warning,"
Clearly, Pico was not swayed by Shadic's oddly mature statement, and so trainig commenced. First they focused on activation of the costume, since he wasn't allowed to use his ki outside of it. With Presta's help, the trio managed to link it to Pico's watch. From there they focused on ki disguising, so Pico could live a normal life without worrying about detection at school. On his own time, Pico worked on his mental protection, having read myths about telepathy during his ki research.
Throughout his training, as a way to cover up, he claimed he was job shadowing one of Big Shot's personal assistants, since Big Shot was a very popular person around school. Some people were skeptical, like Pico's father, but nobody bothered to look into it. The excuse worked well.
Finally, Shadic started teaching the boy the basics. Flight, ki sensing, ki blasts, etc. At long last, Quantum was ready for the streets.
During the timeskip, however, things got a bit more exciting for the teenage hero who was ever so quickly approaching adulthood. Disappointed by the fact that Shadic had to remove the boy from the Demon War in protection of his well-being, Pico decided he would train harder than ever. He and Shadic worked for hours to improve the boy's physique and conditioning, so much in fact that people at school started to notice how insanely jacked he was for his age. Shadic then worked to tone down the boy's muscle mass, to help keep his identity a secret.
Also during the timeskip, Shadic sent Pico, Presta, and Azuki on a bunch of missions together. A lot of missions to locate old Big Shot warehouses, for the revival of the BoB, to discover the identity of various criminals, and other simple things. The crew's biggest task was a recon mission surrounding the strangely popular John Smith. This guy had gained a lot of popularity around the time of the terrorist attack of South City, and then he made an appearance in the news once again at another point after the Demon War, this time for apparently destroying a three-headed dragon that was causing a ruckus in Central City.
Shadic wanted to know more about this guy, but since he was tied down by his interim Kami duties, he sent the gang out to gather information instead. It was then, in the third year of the timeskip, that Pico met John Smith. John was a simple man with simple desires, not at all a threat to humanity like Shadic cautiously expected he might be. Once John was deemed an ally of good, the crew gifted him a communicator device, to keep in touch with him and call upon him if needed. John took the device to "someone he knew" and had it remade for everybody in the crew, plus an extra one for the Kami.
The adventures of the crew were always fun and simple, but they definitely beat sitting around doing nothing like Quantum had been doing prior to the Saiyan Invasion. Now, in present day, Pico trains his hardest with Shadic to boost his power significantly. He never wants to be a liability on the battlefield again.
Power Level: 10,000
Stats:
AGI: 35
END: 15
STR: 25
FOC: 25
Traits:
*Undetectable - Pico would not be allowed to live a normal life if his power could be detected, so he has figured out how to completely conceal his ki signature at all times, no matter what. In the process, he also has mastered the art of stealth, allowing him to move silently and scentlessly.
*O2 Surplus - Quantum does not need oxygen to breathe, allowing him to stay underwater, in space, or wherever else for as long as he wants.
*Access Denied - No mind attack, telepathy, or anything of the sort can infiltrate Pico's mind. This was mostly done to protect his secret identity, since he does not actually know about mental attacks. If somebody were to try a mind attack on Pico, he may feel a slight discomfort, as if he had a minor headache, but nothing more.
Techniques:
*Lightspeed Jump - Quantum can focus all of his energy into one quick burst. This allows him to move from place to place very quickly, essentially like teleportation. This technique cannot be used in battle, as it is mostly for moving between planets and other long range locations in mere seconds.
*Dual Destructo Disc: [Your Character] creates two discs of yellow ki which are then thrown at the opponent. Combined, the discs are 3x the power of a single disc. They take two posts to charge, and while the tracking is more accurate, they are still dodgable. (FOC x 3 for damage if both make contact; FOC x 1 if only one makes contact)
Quest Techniques (charge times have been increased by a single post due to one of Pico's weaknesses):
*Kamehameha - Signature move of the Turtle School, this skill is very flexible and has been reported to be very malleable after being fired, allowing for the user to put more force behind it at the cost of winding themselves or even adding alternative effects to the skill. The technique charges for 2 posts to fire at 2.8x the user's FOCUS stat flat. The user can charge for a maximum of 6 posts for +0.5x per turn to a maximum of 5.3x the user's Focus. At the cost of adding a cooldown per post, the user can put extra force equal to a charge up to a maximum of 3 posts/cooldowns.
*Turtle Strike - The signature rush of the Turtle School, the user dashes at the opponent, striking them in the stomach and following with an uppercut to the chin. The user dashes up ahead of the opponent and fires a Kamehameha Wave, blasting the opponent into the ground. In reality, the user charges for 3 posts, before the user uses their extreme speed to rush the opponent outside of the blind eye's sight, punching into the stomach and upper cutting into the chin for a damaging strike at 3x the user's STR, before firing a point blank Kamehameha Wave at its minimum power of 3.5x the user's FOC, throwing the opponent a far distance away and into the ground if it hits. This is extremely predictable to the opponent after the first use and thus can only be used once per battle, failing every time afterward.
Weaknesses:
*Morals - Pico will never kill on purpose, in fact, he will even try to save his enemy if they are in danger of dying.
*Secret Identitiy - Pico does not want anybody to know who he really is: Quantum. Nobody. Well, aside from Azuki, Shadic, John Smith, and especially Presta. That could be used against him, after all. So, instead, he tries not to use his ki abilities or anything unless he is costumed up.
*Complications - All quest techniques (that have a required charge time) take a post longer to charge. For example, the Kamehameha Wave takes two turns to charge rather than one. This only applies to techniques earned through quests/training, not ones that have been purchased.
Items:
*Costume Conjuration Watch - Pico always wears a watch his father gave him because, once he emits some ki into it, his Quantum costume appears around his body. This watch is indestructible, but all it does is provide Pico with his costume. Only Pico can activate the watch's costume conjuration ability.
*Communicator - A bluetooth communicator within Pico's mask that lets him speak with Shadic, Presta, Azuki, or John whenever he needs to. Other people may be added to his list of contacts over time.
