Zeta stood before Sythius completely normal, he looked human enough, although with his strange attitude and lack of expression, it was becoming more obvious that he was not entirely human. Watching as the reptilian seemed to collect himself and regain his constitution, he asked a question. He inquired why he rushed up toward the artificial human and why he had gotten so close. "I am curious to the reason behind that as well. Perhaps I upset you?" Zeta asked in a genuinely curious manner, unsure of what he might have done.
Regardless of what the answer was, Sythius followed up with what the artificial human's name was. Taking a moment to think to himself, a hollow smile would move across the others lips. He was empty but he wanted to try and convey something to perhaps put the other at ease. "The truth is I don't have a formal name. I was titled Zero Energy Tactical Attack. So perhaps I am named Z.E.T.A. or any abbreviation of that title." The ebony haired male would look around, his irises scanning the area for anything dangerous but as it were, only the two of them remained in this patch of wilderness.
"What of yourself? I do not mean to offend but I have never seen anyone like you. Perhaps this is why I find myself drawn to you."
Sythius was still scrunched up uncomfortably close to Zeta. He corked his head to the right, while his tail was again digging quietly into the ground. It was a slow, and gentle movement that made his body into a distinct "S" shape. "Upset? Is that..." he broke in mid sentence, unsure. "Is that like... anger?" he asked. He hated that word. It was the only name he had for the emotions he felt. The good and the bad ones were the same to him.
Breathe. He told himself. I know what will happen. Sythius' tail flinched, sending dirt flying to the left, behind the lizard. He was scared of his thoughts, although Zeta wouldn't know that. Sythius took a deep breath. This 'Zeta' didn't do anything. Sythius took a deep breath. He just took off his mask, and gave him his name. He even asked Sythius about himself.
"I... I don't think I have a name." His first thought when he was born was that his name was 'Sythius' but, did that really mean anything? He had no emotional connection to the name. "I don't really have anything..."
"Interesting. You are more like myself than I thought." Zeta would respond as he heard Sythius say he didn't know if he really had a name. The fact that he said he didn't know if he had anything was all too familiar with Zeta's own thoughts in the Black Bow Army lab. "It is difficult to find a lot in life. For many years I have been on my own, doing what I believe is best to preserve the future of humanity. Before that, I was nothing. I had no purpose and no reason to exist, other than reasons my creators told me I had." He would slide off his left glove, the artificial human simply examining the skin and warmth of his hand.
It looked real, it felt and seemed completely real although he knew it was just a replication of what a purely organic human hand should be like. "Maybe I am a pair of lifeless eyes but I have a drive. I do not know if this makes me a person or if it simply the result of coding, telling me to seek out another purpose but I feel human." He would gently sldie the black glove back onto his hand, his fingers and palms disappearing behind the protective ebony cover of the leather gloves. "So I extend an offer to you. If you grow weary, stumbling about and looking for a reason to continue, join me. My cause is a righteous one and it requires the cooperation of synthetics and organics alike."
Reaching into his jacket, Zeta would remove the protective mask, placing it back onto his face. "If not, I will be wary of your presence. As it stands, you are the only one to see my face."
"We are?" Sythius asked, not getting it. This human spoke in a bizarre tone, and he hadn't shown any real emotion. To Sythius, there was no connection between them. "What do you even mean, 'preserve the future of humanity?' Since when did humanity become endangered?" Sythius's head tilted even further, obviously curious. He was secretly worried.
"Humanity is always in danger. Threats range far and wide and at times, humanity can even become a danger to itself. What I do is act as the lone protector of humanity. It must be protected at all costs if it is to evolve and grow." Slipping his gloves back onto his hands, Zeta would look back to Sythius, his mask concealing the face that Sythius had seen. Leaping up from hs spot, Zeta would stand up on one of the surrounding tree branches, placing his hand against the tree trunk as he looked down to the reptilian. "One day you will come to understand what I mean. When it all becomes clear to you, I will be waiting."
Zeta turned his back to Sythius and disappeared into the tree tops, his ki signature and everything about him untraceable. However, he gave Sythius the one piece of information he needed to find him, he knew his true face. The look of the man who called himself "The Faceless."
