Shadic lifted a plank of wood into place, securing it with his nail gun. He'd been helping with repairs to South City after Terium's little stunt, especially at night. It kept his mind off things that had been bothering him, which seemed to be everything recently. He was constantly focused on getting stronger, defending the weak, not dying. Shadic felt like he never had any free time any more. Not that he was complaining, but it would be nice to just go hang out somewhere and have fun without a care in the world for once.
He sat down on a bench and took a swig from his water jug. Rebuilding the city was a stress reliever, and it was pretty easy compared to some of the things he'd had to do. Shadic looked off towards the West at the slowly setting sun. The sky had not started darkening yet, but the night was rapidly approaching.
His moment of peace was interrupted by the sound of metal clanking against more metal. He looked over his shoulder and saw some guys trying to bust into some convenience store that had closed up for the night with crowbars. Shadic got up and strolled over to the criminals, minding his own business as he did. One of the two goons noticed and shouted, "Hey Ronnie, look at this chump. The Anime Convention was yesterday! Get lost!" He was clearly referring to Shadic's blue and orange gi, which was definitely far from casual attire for most.
Shadic just kept walking forward, stopping when he was a few feet away from the thugs. "Didn't chu hear Benny, punk?"
"Nah Ron, I'm startin' to think this guy's got a hearin' issue." Benny responded.
Ronnie smiled, "Well, I guess that'll be the least of his problems when we're done with him." He swung his crowbar at Shadic's face, the hybrid quickly put his arm up and blocked it, breaking the flimsy metal tool in half.
"What the?" He questioned, looking at his now broken weapon. Shadic returned to his relaxed state as if nothing happened.
Benny reached into his pocket and pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Shadic. Ronnie followed suit. Ben shouted out, "Light him up!" As both criminals unloaded their pistols on him from point blank. The bullets did tatter his clothing, but as soon as they made contact with his skin, they ricocheted away. One even managed to hit Ronnie in the stomach, sending the guy to the ground in a heap of pain.
Shadic checked his wrist, as if he was wearing a watch even though he wasn't, and asked, "You guys about done?"
Benny tried to use his crowbar in the same manner as his ally, but this time Shadic caught it and ripped it out of his hands. Then he sent a kick to his gut, knocking the wind out of Benny immediately. He also crumpled to the ground.
"I'll take that as a yes." Shadic gloated, crouching down next to the goons. He warped the crowbar to create handcuffs for Benny. Such restrictive devices were unnecessary for Ronnie since he had a bullet wound in the stomach. Then he bent the barrels of the pistols so they could no longer be used.
Shadic got back up and started towards the construction, "Next time you're considering breaking into some place, here's some advice: Don't." He mentioned as he walked away. Then he sat back down as if nothing had happened. Some pedestrians noticed Shadic's crime fighting and called the police, so the criminals were minutes away from proper arrests, meaning they were no longer Shadic's problem.
