The hybrid noticed his lizard companion's mood swing up into the happy range again, judging by his tone of voice and toothy grin. Sythius really was a strange guy, and just one conversation with the guy further proved that point to Shadic. Recognition seemed like something the politician wanted, considering how quickly his mood changed once he considered it.
Apparently Sythius had never even met Godzilla, even though Shadic figured all the politicians had meetings and stuff. The lizard was, much like Shadic, confused about Godzilla's rise to power, increasing the mystery behind him. One thing Sythius said caught Shadic's attention in particular, "Wait, the government isn't very strong? That doesn't seem good for the safety of the people."
"Yeah, it isn't. They try to keep it quiet, but I think the rumors are true. There was a shift in power after that alien tried to take over the Earth years ago. I don't know how the current one came to power, but the last government was pretty corrupt behind the scenes. The new government wants to organize ki warriors to protect the world. As for the cities, only Central and Satan City are directly controlled by the government."
Now that the foot was in the door, Sythius was having a much easier time talking to Shadic. He still wasn't a genius or remotely charismatic, but he was less weird. He took Shadic's earlier advice to be optimistic and told himself that he successfully sold the job. "I'm gonna really like working with you, Shadic!"
Shadic was baffled by what Sythius explained, if he was understanding correctly. Why would the government prefer to have a bunch of ki warriors rather than a large, effective army? Sure, a group of coordinated ki fighters would definitely be a force to be reckoned with, but creating such a team was easier said than done. Shadic had experience in the whole recruiting thing, and it was not fun.
Regardless, Sythius was a lot happier and more open than when they first met up, so conversing was not as awkward any more, "Yeah, I think this partnership will be good for everybody. And I've never actually gotten a paycheck before, so having some money will be a nice change of pace," The idea of having a job came with responsibility, but the new responsibilities basically aligned with Shadic's morals as it was, so he was actually quite excited to start, "Do I need to sign anything or something?" He asked, assuming that it wasn't just some verbal agreement.
"If you don't have money then how do you buy food?"
Sythius doesn't eat too often. He intentionally distracted himself with theft, assault, and murder for as long as he could. Hunger, thirst, and other bodily needs were a teritary concern that was overshadowed by 'not dealing with his issues' and 'having constant drama and attention'. Even so, he still knew that you had to eat and stuff.
"Yeah, we gotta go register..." Sythius said.
ooc: do you think we could finish this page? The thread's winding down but I'd like to get to 30,000 with this thread.
((5 total posts [as in 3 for you and 2 for me] after this one is doable, jes))
Sythius questioned how Shadic found money for food if he never actually had a job. Thinking about it, the question was a good one, "You know, now that you mention it. I'm not sure how I had the money. I know sometimes I save people who own like a restaurant or something and they offer me a free meal, or meals for life, so I guess I just take advantage of that. Weird."
The lizard man mentioned that they needed to go register, which was quite exciting, "Where are we going? Is it some top secret government base that may or may not 'exist' to the public?"
"Free? Like... people give you stuff, without any strings attached? Why the hell would they do that?" Shadic's finances puzzled Sythius.
Sythius stuffed the paper into his suit jacket and turned his back to Shadic. "Uhh... no. We gotta go to the capital in Central City. I think the building is close to the Capitol building... I didn't have to go there since I was elected. They came to me. I don't know how we'd get there, though..."
"Well, yeah. They offer me money and stuff, but I don't want their money. I got strong to help people, it's not like I have to do it. But when they offer me food, hey, I can't turn down that offer. Heroes gotta eat, too, y'know what I mean?" He looked down the street at the construction site he had been helping out at earlier. The two had been talking for quite a while now, maybe they did need to wrap this up. It was getting kind of late outside, and pretty soon it would be primetime for criminals. Shadic wanted to get in on that action as soon as possible.
Shadic looked off to the North, which was the general direction of Central City, "Why wouldn't we just fly there. You can fly, right?" He was aware that most people actually could not fly, but he figured a lizard man would at least be able to do that.
"People like it when you give them free stuff?" he was interested in the idea of "free" and what he would later discover was called charity. If it would give him attention, he was all for it.
"Well, yeah, but it might take a really long time..."
Sythius took off eastward. Shadic might want to help him xD.
"Everybody loves free stuff!" Shadic exclaimed. He knew the free stuff he received was compensation for his kindness and heroism, meaning it wasn't actually free, but he decided to let Sythius figure that one out for himself. If he could, that is.
Thankfully, the lizard man was capable of flying, but he explained how it would take a long time, "No worries. I got plenty of time," The hybrid looked around, making sure there were no crimes being committed as he began floating off towards the North. Looking to his right, he noticed Sythius had started flying eastward, which would not have gotten him to Central City.
Shadic zipped over to Sythius, blocking off his incorrect course of travel, "Yikes, Central City is that way buddy," He pointed to the North, in the general direction of their destination, "Follow me, I'll make sure to travel at your pace," With that, Shadic started flying to where he needed to go, looking over his shoulder to make sure the councilman was still following.
