Reku laid back on his throne as the, still new, King of Vegeta. He felt like he was finally getting somewhere with all the effort beginning to pay off. He had recently had his seat fixed, due to it being worn out by Quemon’s careless rule. He had a lot of work together to get the saiyan army back to where it needed to be, but right at this moment, he had nothing to do. It was only about a hour ago that he had just got back from his meeting with the generals and combat trainers. He thought he deserved to relax and enjoy at least a portion of the day.
Suddenly, Reku heard the gates open and close. He sat up more, wondering who it could be. He didn’t sense anyone coming towards him. However, once he saw the visitor, he raised his eyebrows. As she spoke, he was easily able to recognize her voice, confirming that his guess was a correct one. “Edgy? Well isn’t this a surprise.” He replied. There were two guards standing on opposite sides of the room, across from Reku. They were about to move in, but the saiyan King raised his hand and they stopped. “I guess it is a “swell morning”. I wouldn’t know. I’ve been busy lately. What brings you here?"
Taking the document from Edgy, Reku couldn’t help but recognize a particular name that came up. “Jay? You mean blue hair, armor, Razor Force Jay?" Reku replied, not knowing that James was a half-saiyan. That certainly explained the similarities between his transformation and the Super Saiyan form. If he is actually a saiyan, his potential in strength may be even greater than I had previously thought. Looks like our rematch might come sooner than I thought. He wondered. Refocusing back on what Edgy was saying, he couldn’t help but feel intrigued. He looked through the document and thought they could definitely use the manpower.
“This is tempting, but Saiyans don’t exactly work too well with others. Hell, a lot of them don’t even work well with each other. Plus, to tell you the truth, my military power is lacking. The previous king’s rule was atrocious and he let everything go to shit. Now I have to clean up his mess." He replied, sighing as he recalled the mountain load of work needed to get the saiyans back into gear. He would give Edgy a chance to respond before asking,”But anyway, you got into a fight with Sonnelion and Jay? What happened?"
Reku let out a long whistle as he leaned back on his throne. “Well, that is a quite a string of bad luck. James is the type to surprise people. Though Sonnelion isn’t that strong. Once you figure out his moves he’s pretty much easy prey." He replied. Who knew the Earth’s Government could be so aggressive. If James and Sonnelion are both working with them, then their weaponry might become even more formidable than before. Reku folded the document in his hand and put it in his pocket. ”Alright. You’re allowed to stay on Vegeta if you want to, but you’ll have to let me think before bringing an entire army of demons here. Last thing I need is an all out war on my planet." He advised.
”I had no idea that the Red Ribbon Army even did anything anymore. I thought they were wiped off the face of the Earth a long time ago."
“Uh…yeah." Was all that Reku could think for a response when Edgy started talking about Rin eating people. He vaguely remembered her, only meeting her one time at a restaurant. She seemed like a nice individual, but it looked like she wasn’t so harmless after all. When asked about the change power, Reku thought over the question for a moment before answering. ”It’s been strange. It’s true that the last king wasn’t even a saiyan. In fact, I don’t think he had any knowledge of ruling whatsoever. He missed things even normal common sense would pick up. Even if the saiyans wanted to kill him, I don’t think they had the ability to, to be honest. A lot of their power is pathetic. You could probably kill the two guards in this room with ease." He replied, which made the two saiyan guards sweat a little before taking a couple steps back in nervousness.
Reku growled, crossing his arms as he admitted the truth the battle for the title of King. “It’s nothing like that at all. The King was a weak, pompous idiot. He had no honor. He even had the audacity to have an assassin to lay in hiding so that he could simply blast me to pieces when I had the chance. Luckily, I was able to avoid the calamity and in the end, I was the one left standing." He replied, going on to rant. ”That King had a tongue a mile long. He was a trickster and a thief. Nothing more, nothing less. He had his weak guards fight for him and they weren’t even a match for me in the slightest. It was a shame. I was expecting a battle to end all battles. Instead I had to fight a clown. Disgraceful."
Reku just sat there with a blank stare as the horrible pun was made, not sure whether to laugh out of pity or shake his head in disappointment. And I thought I was bad at humor. He thought. Suddenly, he was shocked when Edgy started acting humble all of the sudden and actually began to apologize. Reku couldn’t help but feel a tad awkward. ”Uh..It’s fine. Really. I don’t exactly have good first impressions anyway." He replied. Someone attacking Edgy’s army and winning? Surely it couldn’t have been the Razor Force again right? What kind of people did she piss off? He wondered.
“Just make sure you keep me informed on your enemies and their activities. I don’t want my planet to be caught in the crossfire."
Reku found humor in Edgy’s careless mistakes, chuckling as a response. Growing up on Earth, he knew that one did not simply walk in and claim to be the boss without receiving some backlash. She had an army with her too? Well, she has guts. I’ll give her that. He thought. Before he could have a chance to try and have Edgy go into details, she began warning him about someone extremely dangerous. At first, Reku didn’t seem to care much, being that he knew a lot of people who were stronger than Edgy. At least by going off the time they first met. Then he began to hear her change in tone and it caught his attention. He leaned forward, listening carefully to her plea. ”A cold blooded killer named Ada eh? What is your relation to this girl? Obviously you must be enemies, since you have tried to kill her and failed." He asked before remembering once again that he had a whole civilization to protect. ”Is she here?"
“How do you expect to find this girl then? I can’t spend all my time on Earth like I used to, as I have responsibilities here. Even if I could, there’s no signal to follow or an energy to sense and recognize. I don’t even know what she looks like." Reku replied. He thought about asking who the mother was, but seeing the expression on Edgy’s face, he felt like he shouldn’t try to pry anymore information out of her. He sat back and sighed, trying to think. She can barely be trusted and she’s made from mystical demon magic? Sheesh.
”Alright look, I’ll try. But no promises." Reku said finally. ”In any case, you can help the generals whip the troops into shape. You are much more powerful than they are anyhow. Just don’t act like you’re above them."
Reku made a mental note of Edgy’s description of the girl. Black tattoo, white hair. Got it. He thought. Hearing Edgy’s training method, he couldn’t help but smile. ”That should be fine. I rather not have my military reliant on a full moon. Especially since some planets don’t even have one." He stood up from his throne and walked towards Edgy and reach out his hand to shake hers. ”I’m sure it’ll be a pleasure doing business with you." Reku was about to turn and walk back to his throne, but he thought about question he held back before. He felt like he shouldn’t be asking, but curiosity got the better of him this time.
Reku raised an eyebrow as Edgy struggled to get the words out. He had no idea what was going on or what he had just triggered. As of this moment, he could hope that he didn’t say the wrong thing. Unfortunately, that was clearly as she admitted to being the mother before breaking down and storming out. “Edgy, wait!" He shouted, but it was too late. He decided to let her cool off, but simply went back to sit on his throne. She’s the mother…? And she was willing to have her own child killed? What monster has she conceived? He wondered. Reku couldn’t help but think of his own son, Riku. There was a time where he wanted to kill him as well. It was a long time ago, but it still happened. He tightened his fists as this suddenly felt personal. Reku looked up at the ceiling. The lengths that he would go to find him were unimaginable. It was legacy and his flesh and blood. He cared for him more than anything else in the world, even the one he worked so hard to rule. Knowing that Edgy possessed the same feelings for her child and the pain she must be experiencing at this very moment, it pushed him to something he never thought he would do for someone else.
Looks like I put my nose where it didn’t belong again. I gotta stop doing that. He thought. Relating to Edgy’s pain, he slammed his fist on the arm of the chair and got up forcefully, heading out of his castle. ”Fuck it." He muttered. As he walked out the door, he saw all the saiyans looking in one direction, and figured that’s where Edgy had gone. He looked in the opposite direction, where the military facility was and began to walk towards it. I don’t usually make promises… He opened the door and every saiyan soldier in the room looked at him suddenly.
