Okora, young and desperate to be a fighter, was punching the air in public. His fifteen year old mind wanted to prove he could hang with the Elite Warriors of the Saiyan army. He had very bad form and many of the older saiyans noticed. The ladies watched in amusement at the boy’s pathetic attempt to prove himself. All anyone saw was a homeless, low class rat who was pretending to be someone he wasn’t.
One of the saiyan generals walked up to him, smiling as he pat the boy on the back. “Don’t worry lad, I heard the cooking crew needs a few good men.” He said. People began to chuckle silently, especially the ladies in the crowd. While Okora was younger than them, he still thought like a man and admired the female members of his species. “Oh don’t worry, I’ll prove that I’m the strongest! Give me your best warrior! I’ll show him who’s boss!” He shouted.
The general chuckled. “Very well.”
Okora found himself in the middle of the crowd, face to face with a saiyan warrior. So this is the best they have to offer. Alright then. He thought. Was this warrior actually the strongest among the ranks? Of course not. He was actually the weakest guy in the army. The general wasn’t crazy, and therefore didn’t want to kill the kid.
The saiyan general wanted to give this kid an easy to win to fuel his confidence, and everyone in the crowd knew this. Still, they were interested to see how the fight would go. Okora took a battle stance, which was just bringing up his fists like a boxer. “Bring it on, chump!” He said to his opponent. The opponent took an actual martial arts stance and the battle began. It was time for Okora to prove himself!
The fight didn’t even last a full minute before Okora ended up on his back, losing consciousness. He could hear the faint laughter echoing in his mind and soon merging together into one, annoying noise. Before he completely lost consciousness, he heard the voice of the general. He said, “Eesh, the boy is weaker than I thought. Anyone could’ve beat the guy he went up against. He’ll never be in the army.” One of the ladies walked up and took him to the hospital to treat his wounds.
Okora walked by the training facility of the saiyan army. He took interest in a young girl who was among the ranks, and very much wanted to get with her. He’s been wanting to talk to her for a while now, but unfortunately she has a crush someone else. He did not want to risk being “friend zoned” immediately, so he stayed a stranger. However, Okora had an idea that would seal his future with this beautiful girl.
The young saiyan male snuck into the facility through the back door. He went into an area of the facility that had all the training equipment. That included a gravity chamber, capable of allowing someone train under intense gravity to increase their physical capabilities. Okora has been spying on the girl’s crush for a while now, and once spotted him going into the same machine through a window.
His plan was to use the same machine and prove that he could keep up with that Saiyan Elite. Okora wanted to continue to train in the machine and eventually challenge the elite and knock him down. Then, when he’s defeated Okora’s crush would come running to him. It was the perfect plan to put into action, at least in his eyes. Full of confidence and sure of himself, he entered the machine.
Okora entered the machine, letting the door close behind him. He walked up to the operating system and saw a dial the was in charge of the increase or decrease in gravity. He turned the dial up to 5x Vegeta’s Gravity to start. Yeah. That seems reasonable. How bad can five times be? He thought. He pressed start, and instantly regretted his decision. He was forced onto the ground in an instant and was screaming in pain. He could feel his bones being crushed and his body being forced into the ground. Someone must’ve heard him, because the man he was trying to best for so long walked in, clearly unaffected by the gravity.
Turning the machine off, he looked at Okora and picked him up by the collar. “What the hell did you think you were doing?”
Okora was in the infirmary, being pointed at and laughed by the saiyan elites. “You couldn’t even handle 5x gravity? That’s child’s play!” One of them said. The best saiyan, the one that Okora’s crush was after, walked up to him. “How pathetic. You call yourself a saiyan? You can’t even handle the trainees. HAHAHA!” He mocked. This comment infuriated Okora, who only wanted to secure a relationship with his crush. Fed up with his constant failures and them being rubbed in his face, he decided to talk back.
Okora sat up on comfy white hospital bed and looked him in the eye. “Oh be quiet you idiot! Oh look at me I’m so tough, meh meh meh meh, look at me I’m an elite meh meh meh. I’m sick and tired of you always thinking you’re the best when you ain’t shit.” He said. The room fell silent, and the elite saiyan paused. “What the hell did you just say?” He replied. Okora, realizing he made a big mistake, dashed and jumped out of the window and flew away as fast as he could.
Okora flew behind a building, breathing heavily. He looked out from the behind the wall, seeing the other saiyans go by without noticing him. He put his back against the walla and slid down until he felt his bottom hit the floor. Look like I finally lost them, what a relief. He thought. He couldn’t help but feel good about what he had said.
He felt that he had finally stuck up for himself, and had a new found confidence. Unfortunately, his poor financial state remained and he needed a way to get money. He didn’t know what he could do, and decided to look for a job. He hesitantly walked out from his hiding place, looking around to see if the saiyan soldiers were still around. They weren’t, so he safely went out and wondered where to start. He began by trying the local cooking crew around the corner.
They rejected instantly, he felt like he was kicked out faster than he got in. In fact, it seemed like everyone was sending him away. Food markets, weapon salesmen, forgers, trainers, pilots, etc. He couldn’t land one single job, and he was running out of options. Suddenly, he saw a sport poster on the side of a wall. Something about.. Baseball? He had never heard of the sport, but he didn’t think he had any other choice. He decided to try it out.
Surprisingly, Okora was successfully accepted in by the owner of the team. Admittedly, the young saiyan felt like it was because of his record for embarrassing himself. The owner probably thought the team would become more famous if they had someone like him around. At first, Okora had trouble learning and it took a while to get the hang of it. Eventually, he got better, and even played some games and got good money. Sometimes a girl would even come up to him and ask for an autograph.
Life was good, but eventually he had to leave because he felt like he wanted to be a warrior, not an athlete.
