Reku was in a restaurant in South City, eating quite a lot of food. Did he have any money on him? Of course not. He never had a job and didn’t plan on ever getting one. He had a lot of better things to do with his time, such as training, hunting down his archenemy Big Shot, finding some way to sort out this whole ordeal with that masked man, etc. Reku put down his fork and plate before leaning back on his chair and letting out a sigh. He had created so many problems for himself, it was exhausting. Constant battle was wearing out his body in general, he needed some time to relax.
He looked outside the window that his table was placed next to. It was a bright, sunny day with just the right amount of wind. Not too much traffic on the streets, but they weren’t deserted. People were coming and going to different places and meeting different people. Today was just a nice, ordinary day. It was rare that this type of day arose. Reku chuckled, looking up at the ceiling. Alright, what’s the catch. He thought.

Today was definitely a beautiful compared to most days Edgy had to deal with, wearing a neatly put together outfit consisting of a black turtle neck sweater with dark denim jeans. She liked the plain scene, yet had a hate for denim pants, mainly due to their tightness comparable to her usual dresses. She ignored the issue, looking over her shoulder at the moping adult behind her. It was Rin, a girl she had learned to know as a sister, someone close to her, yet somehow managed to get into a master complex with the poor woman, despite the experienced assassin not bothering to give any conversation starters.
"So... Rin. Wanna get something to eat? We are off the job right now so let's just go to some restaurant! We rarely get to eat anything outside of base foods"
"Sure. Why not. Any pla- Nevermind there it is" The conversation would slow down, almost as if on cue, a restaurant was within view, open for business. It was convenient, but ended the conversation as they walked in, looking about the place, before a sudden growl came from Edgy's mouth. Rin would look over to see almost comical flames among Edgy's hair as she gave a clearly angry face, looking to see what she is staring at. It was a male, adult, and judging from his power, he was definitely not the average person. She could only question what relationship Edgy and this man had, before Edgy seemed to speak up for moment.
"IT IS YOU AGAIN? I REMEMBER YOU!" Edgy yelled at the top of her lungs, slightly frightening the girl beside her, as she walked over flustered towards Reku with her hands in fists at her side.
Reku almost knocked over his food upon the sudden rise in volume that was caused by the shout. He looked away from ceiling at Edgy, and immediately felt a feeling of annoyance wash over him. “What the? Aren’t you supposed to be dead?" He asked, remembering the journey on the hollowed mountains. If he recalled right, Sonnelion did her in by separating her from her sentient sword. Got to be kidding me. Who in their right mind would revive her? He wondered, assuming she came back through the use of the dragon balls. He saw someone else beside her, a woman who looked fairly young.. He had never seen her before, but something told him that if he was hanging around with Edgy, she was not normal.
"Death is for the meek. I merely disappear for a while. What you witnessed what just a mere... mishap that happens whenever jackasses try and take my sword away." Edgy stated, stopping not to far away from Reku, placing her hands on the table, before sighing and sitting down with the man. Rin would stand behind Edgy's chair, glaring at anyone attempting to approach the table, while Edgy ruffled her hair for a moment, before fiddling with Mephisto on her wrist in his bracelet form. "Anyway, sir, it is 'nice' to meet you here I suppose. How have you been holding up? You are eating like you just had a break up." Edgy's eyes would cross for a second, folding her fingers to be twined together under her chin. She was interested how Reku must have been holding up since their little incident with that insolent murderous saiyan.
"Ma'am, you know this man?" Rin asked, finally having room to talk among the trio, before offering a handshake to the man with a smile across her face. "It is an honor to meet you. I am Erin Iyce, but people just call me Rin. I am Frau Edgy's adoptive sister, so please disregard her apparent rudeness. She has gone through a lot recently and is very crabby of sorts." The girl would say. She tried to be the most professional as she could, eye locking, smile, with pleasant voice. That was the way she normally deceived people, though this was a moment of sincerity.
“Heh. Right." Reku replied, still believing that someone must have brought back to life. One does not simply cheat death. When Edgy asked him how he was holding up, he couldn’t help but be surprised. That was the last thing he expected to hear from someone who hated him. Reku was about to respond, but was caught off guard the lady suddenly speaking. ”Nice to meet you Rin, my name’s Reku. And trust me, I’ve seen worse. Maybe." He replied, teasing. He turned his attention back to Edgy, looking out the window. ”While I my particularly large appetite has nothing correlation to my life, it’s been basically a complete shitstorm." He replied.
Edgy listened to Reku speak, understanding what he meant entirely. It seemed the correlation between everyone recently was failure and distaste. She knew it all to well. She nodded in agreement, before speaking to add to the conversation.
"I sympathize. I've had many things hold me back recently. Or as you called it, a shit storm." She laughed, before noticing Rin took a seat beside her. Edgy had been wondering what her acquaintances had been up to since their encounters, having not bothered to try and find Sonnelion, having a deep hate for the man, as well as trying her hardest to try and find her previous election opponents, mainly for context and revenge. She could only do so much when she had little free time.
"What has happened to cause this 'shitstorm'? I have heard from our spies of multiple occurrences here on the Earth that seems t have caused multiple problems. The recent terrorist attacks, Assassination attempts, et cetera. Or are your problems more... personal? I'd love to hear" Rin spoke up considerately. It was unexpected, causing Edgy to give her a look of disbelief. Rin rarely ever talked with people, especially those who she didn't know. Maybe it had to do with the belief of a sort of 'friend of a friend' moment, but Edgy could not tell.
"Ah, yes. The terrorist attacks. I recently encountered one of the people responsible for them and I am honestly slightly confused how the Earth fighters have an issue. A couple thousand enemies with such weak powers are nothing. I would expect better of Earth. Though I doubt that has to do with your life problems does it. Tell me, what IS the mishap? A friend's death, a betrayal possibly? Or maybe, just maybe, you are regretting past occurrences. You'd be surprised how often that is."
“My son has been kidnapped and is being held hostage in kai knows where by some intelligent bastard who is using me to work for him, the creation of a man I destroyed is out to kill me, I watched a young man die right before my eyes, an acquaintance of mine almost killed me in a fit of rage, my nightmares that have been caused by the death of my “significant” other by my own hand have returned, I may as well just have lost the trust of the only real friend I had left on this forsaken planet by damn near killing his “friend with benefits, and I’m wanted by almost all of Earth or an assassination attempt at the election. Hell, I’m surprised I even made it in here. So to answer your question, all of the above." Reku replied, glaring at Edgy for laughing earlier.
Reku sat up, taking another plate of food and began to eat. However, the pace had slowed significantly. His facial expression showed an odd mix of frustration, anger, sadness, and regret. His whole world had turned completely upside down, and he was feeling a bit lost. He didn’t know what his next move should be. It seemed like he still didn’t have the kind of power he wanted, despite his whole journey. He clenched his fists, feeling alone.
"Yemma fuck you have been through a bit of hell haven't you. Now that I think about it, even hell isn't as bad as that is. A lot of death. I apologize." Edgy said, slightly wondering how one man manages to get that much into the hole. "You mentioned a kidnapping. Who was it? While we have had our differences, I cannot allow children to be used like dolls. If you need any he-" Edgy went on, before being punched in the arm by Rin. She stuck her tongue out at Edgy, before walking over to Reku and crouching down to be face level, due to her height.
"Listen Sir Reku, I understand your pain. Through most of my life I was hunted by people. My mother and father were both murdered by demons who hated my kind. I am not your conventional demon, but I learned to gather friends, and make allies. When my friend was held captive, I was forced to do many things, but when I needed help the most, I asked a friend. Having help from someone is the most amazing thing you can have, no matter how powerful you are. I am a skilled assassin. I spent my life murdering, and despite what you might think, Edgy has done quite a lot since your encounter with her... Also I sorta already knew about you" She laughed for a second, as if slightly distressed. "If you want or need our help, we have a Jazz Club in West City that is sorta like our base. Just come by and we will help to the best of our ability. No matter what you need" Rin finished sympathetically. She was saddened to hear about Reku's mishaps, and was very determined to help no matter what. Hopefully, it can go through.
Reku swallowed his food before speaking. “Heh. Thanks. It’s rare to hear that nowadays, especially from a complete stranger. Though I must decline your offer. Friendships are overrated. Everyone who was once my ally is now my enemy, and don’t need anymore. Fate, or maybe some other outside force, have caused a series of events to occur to burn those bridges time and time again. And now,“ He clenched his fists even tighter, his dark ki aura starting to surface. He took on a dark and evil presence, the table began to shake. ”It’s trying to burn the last bridge I have, my own son’s. I used to think life was what you make it. Now, I’m not so sure." He replied, his very voice shaking from his struggle to keep the rage inside. Reku took a deep breath, loosening his fists and opened up his hands. He took his right hand and slid it down his face, letting out a sigh as he did so.
”I work alone. Be glad I turned you down, misfortune tends to follow me wherever I go." Reku began stacking his empty plates on top of each other on the table, making it easier for the waiter to take it away when he was done. He turned back to Edgy, who had asked about the kidnapper. “I have no idea. I’ve never seen him. We’ve been in the same location before, but he sticks to the shadows and I can’t sense his energy." He said, just itching for the day he could see him in person so he could wipe him out of existence with his own hands.
"Wait a moment. You said you couldn't sense his power at all? What so ever? That... That is concerning. I think I might be able to help you with that, though it probably wont be of much help unless you can happen to figure out out of anyone who might know you that would do this." Edgy said, thinking it over. It wasn't uncommon for people of weaker powers to hide their power levels, but to never be sensed the way Edgy did it, it took either skill, or natural finesse to do such work. "I know you don't want help, but take this advice of mine. As you can feel and see, No one can ever feel my power or my Ki. That is due to how Mephisto hides us from extremely high powered enemies. We are weak compared to the higher ups, and the only real people who do have the ability, or make the ability to 100% hide their power are weaklings themselves. What you must have on your hands is somebody with some skills beyond normal human engagement. Someone who knows what they are doing, but knows they cannot go head to head with someone of your caliber. They work shadows as you said, meaning they must be trained. Possibly Red Ribbon Army? They have done quite a lot of hidden assassin projects." She sighed, taking a breath as Rin jumped in.
"Someone went out of the way to not only hide from you but try to manipulate you with your son. That means he must want to do or commit something he is far to low to do. Judging from such, I doubt he is of the Ki variety. I could guess he works for a higher being, possibly governmental?" Rin questioned herself, before tagging in an older mention. "Anyway, you are the one who tried to kill the governess Skylar? I thought there were multiple assassins. I remember watching the report on it, after Edgy here was murdered by Governess Skylar on a public stage. Though the government of Earth quickly confiscated the tapes and refuses to allow them to be shown. I can only recommend staying away from places that might do real damage to you publicly. The last thing you want to do is get the humans against you even more" Rin would say casually while getting hungry. Her eyes would turn black, with red irises, taking some breadsticks from a neighboring table and nibbling down to keep her hunger down.
