The soldiers that surrounded Reku began to disperse, blocking the crowd from getting any closer as they arrived at the building. Reku was pointed to the wall to stand in front of. Walking over to it, he saw the firing squad march out in front of him and getting into formation. He walked in front of them, standing at the wall. He took a deep breath as he looked at the numerous guns in front of him. Normally, he wouldn’t care about weak weaponry directed at him, but now that he was vulnerable with the power dampening braces, his whole view of them changed. He could actually be killed by one of these things now. He began to have a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach and couldn’t help but feel a little worried. I sure hope you know what you’re doing Shadic.
One of the camera men, who was directly broadcasting the whole event to live television, nodded towards the commander, signaling they were ready for it to be done with. The commander raised his hand and shouted, "Ready!" Many members of the squad loaded their guns with ammunition, but as Shadic tried to slide his ammo clip into the gun it wouldn't stick. He inadvertently removed the locking mechanism, so the ammunition could not stay in the gun.
Before the commander could go on, Shadic shouted, "Wait my magazine won't stay!" Everybody groaned, but the commander slowly lowered his arm.
"What do you mean it 'won't stay?'" He asked, his voice filled with frustration.
Shadic popped the clip in before it quickly fell out again, "It doesn't lock in place like ammo is supposed to," He explained, demonstrating once again.
The Commanding Officer sighed, "Take a break boys. We need to replace his weapon." TVs across the nation cut to commercial as the squad walked back in to the station. Shadic set his weapon down and scurried to the restroom, claiming he was so nervous he had to take a leak.
In the bathroom was the clone, who had been hiding in the stall for the past 30 minutes. Shadic slid out of his officer uniform, revealing his usual gi that had been expertly hidden beneath. "Okay, I got 5 minutes tops to make this happen. You know what you're doing?"
The clone sighed, "I am you, of course I know what I'm doing. Just get going!"
"Gotcha, see you soon, me!" Shadic made some hand signs before disappearing in a small poof of smoke (broke the technique a little bit for the sake of the thread, hope you don't mind lol). He reappeared outside a generator plant, which is where he had placed his Teleport Seal. Shadic took a deep breath and began charging his Thunderbolt attack, which was likely his best bet for a quick zap.
When the soldiers yelled ready, Reku saw the soldiers fill their weapons with ammo and prepare to fire. Suddenly, one of them called out a technical issue. He couldn’t help but smirk a little, knowing who that was. He could barely recognize him in an officer uniform. All the other soldiers groaned and after a little conversation he saw his ally run off. Reku calmed his nerves, preparing himself mentally. Holy crap, that actually worked. Now I just have to wait for the signal.
Shadic continued his charging outside the power plant, hoping he could unleash his attack sooner than later.
Meanwhile, the clone was receiving a lecture from the commanding officer. "Now, son, I understand you are an honorary officer for the day. But all you have to do is pop in the clip," He held up one of the M4s to demonstrate, "Aim and fire. Simple."
The hybrid sighed, "I know; I was ready, too! My mechanism was just broken or something. Next time just fire without me."
"We will. We have to, these cameramen are getting paid by the minute. I don't want to pay them a dime more than I have to. This next time is going to be the one." The commander spat back, going to check on the rest of the soldiers. "One minute, people, and then we go back out there."
The minute passed by a lot quicker than it seemed, and before long the ten men lined back up to fire on the criminal. Now Shadic had to race against the clock, otherwise his friend would be pumped full of lead.
Reku saw the firing squad return, lining back up in front of him. He was confused, thinking that they would take a lot longer than they did. Uh, was it supposed to be this fast? He thought, thinking that maybe they were going to fire soon. Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to be the case as they were already preparing to fire again. His eyes widened on this realization and began to become a little nervous. Come on Shadic, I don’t have all day!
The commander got a signal from the cameraman that they were rolling and ready for it to be done. He cleared his throat as he looked between his officers and the criminal. Clone Shadic looked around, worried they had taken too long on their plan.
"Ready!" He raised his hand. The squad all loaded the magazine into their weapons. Clone Shadic had no choice but to follow them.
"Aim!" Everybody took aim at Reku, 10 fully loaded weapons just seconds away from going off.
Back at the generator plant, Shadic finally unleashed his thunderbolt on the machinery, cutting the circuit for a short period of time. 'I don't know if that worked, but I have to hope it did.'
"Fire!!" The commander shouted, sending his arm down in a chopping motion. As the squad began pulling the trigger, all of the lights in the building went dark. The air felt extremely arid and static-y, but nobody had the chance to think much of it before things started going wrong. The cameramen started shouting in panic as their cameras had been disconnected and, therefore, shut down. Still, the bullets flew towards Reku with the intent to kill.
Unbeknownst to the squad, the PL dampening cuffs actually were deactivated in Shadic's artificial EMP. Even if the bullets did hit him, they would bounce harmlessly off of him and potentially ricochet towards the squad themselves.
Clone Shadic breathed a sigh of relief when the lights turned off, because that meant their plan had worked to a key, albeit barely.
They gave the command to aim, which made Reku a little nervous. He swallowed in anxiety and sweat began to run down the side of his forehead. Shadic… He thought, waiting for the cue. However, it didn’t come. The command to aim was given and the soldiers responded accordingly, pointing their guns at Reku’s body. “SHADIC…” He muttered, albeit a little too loud. Then, Reku saw his own life flash before his eyes as they said “Fire!”
He stood there in shock, taking a few moments to realize that he was still alive. Not only did the power go out, but he felt his own power return. He smirked and powered up, letting the ground shake due to his tremendous power as his white aura flared up. He raised his hand and fired a few ki blasts at the ground right in front of the firing squad to blow them back, but not kill them.
The commander's eyes widened when he saw Reku survive the bullets without taking a scratch, aside from his jumpsuit which was peppered with bullet holes all over. He spoke into his walkie talkie, "We got a Code: Red. I repeat, a Code: Red! The power outage cut the power to his cuffs as well!" One of the bullets had ricocheted off Reku's skin and actually hit clone Shadic in the chest. Since clone Shadic was, well, a clone, he disappeared instantly, his uniform falling to the group in a heap. Nobody seemed to notice, or care, because they were too busy freaking out over what to do with the criminal.
Shadic was already long gone from the power plant. His job was done, even if Reku decided to mess around and hurt innocent people.

Honoring his promise to Shadic, Reku would take off into flight. He would fly as fast as he could out of the city, avoiding his punishment outright. He couldn’t find Shadic in time, so he figured he would just have to thank him another day.
