Reku seemingly fired his Kamehameha, so Shadic followed suit, "HAAaa?" He unleashed the technique but as he did he noticed something was off about Reku's blast. The light flashed, signaling the firing, but then it went away. Shadic halted the technique, watching as the beam trailed off into the ground below. Before he could even think about doing something else, Reku appeared with some more heat. A few of the punches landed in Shadic's face, dizzy-ing him, but the hybrid was quickly back on the defensive. Because of the free face shots, Shadic's blocks and dodges were a lot less effective.
Still conscious of his severe gut pains, Shadic managed to block Reku's knee by grabbing it with both hands. Using the knee, he pushed himself back a little ways to recollect his thoughts and regain full control. Then, he dashed back in firing off some quick kicks towards Reku's ribs followed by a roundhouse kick to the opposite side. He wanted to match Reku's aggression, seeing as Shadic should be able to outlast him based on pure power alone. Of course, with his sore arms and stinging gut, that would be easier said than done.
'Well this escalated quickly.' was Reku had time to think of as Shadic came in more aggressive than before. Reku held up his left arm to block the kicks, but the sheer power and speed broke his block, blowing away his arm as he was hit by the last view in the ribs. 'Damn...my arm is getting numb.' He thought, but he saw that there was no time to think about his own condition as saw the roundhouse kick come into view. He used his other arm, blocking it successfully. Reku forced himself on the offensive, using his numb and bruised arm to elbow him in the jaw, though the hit contain less damage than before due to it being weakened. He spun around as fast as he could to follow up with a reverse roundhouse kick of his own.
Shadic's plan to match up with aggression worked, or so it seemed. Reku's guard was broken on one of Shadic's last kicks, allowing him to get a hit in on the ribs like he wanted. Unfortunately, Reku saved himself from the roundhouse and countered by throwing an elbow to Shadic's face. The hybrid leaned his head back to soften the blow, but getting hit in the jaw still hurts. He didn't have much time to think because Reku was trying to answer with his own roundhouse kick.
Shadic rose one of his legs to block the kick, meeting Reku's shin with his own. Pain shot through his leg because getting hit in the shin never feels good, but Shadic was not about to give in to the pain. Using his other leg, Shadic threw a kick towards Reku's head. After that, Shadic flipped backwards and flew forwards at full speed, trying to tackle Reku out of the air. He was ready to put this battle away, especially since they'd been going at it for a while now.
Reku's shin stung with a sharp pain as well when Shadic blocked his kick. He jumped back, just narrowly dodging the kick that followed afterwards, he was about to plan his next move, but the next thing he knew he was tackled. The two fighters were descending fast, and Reku was smashing Shadic’s back repeatedly with all of his might, trying to loosen his grip on him. “GET OFF OF ME!” Reku shouted, wanting to get free. He smashes on the back would then change to fierce elbow blows to his head.
Shadic succeeded in knocking Reku out of the air, but that was as far ahead as he thought. From there, the two hybrids plummeted towards the Earth with nothing to cushion their fall. In the interest of closing out the battle, Shadic did not try to slow their fall as they continued down towards the rocky wasteland below.
On the way down, Reku was doing his best to get free. He was pounding on Shadic's back, who was unable to dodge or block any of the hits. When they were no more than 30 feet away from the ground, Shadic could not bear the pain any longer. He tossed Reku aside, while they were still plummeting of course, and quickly ran through some ideas on how to soften his inevitable crash landing. He did the first thing that came to mind, which was to fire a ki blast at the ground. Not only would that create a small crater, giving Shadic more time to slow his fall, but it would also provide a nice little shockwave that would help with the slowing process. In theory.
What actually happened was not as pretty. The ki blast did slow Shadic's descent, but not by much. He tried to maneuver himself so he would land on his back but was not quite fast enough, landing on his shoulder instead. He bounced once, rolled for a few feet, then finally slid to a stop.
'We take that whole flight thing for granted sometimes...sheeeeesh.' Shadic thought as he lay on the hard ground. Falling from however high and crash landing definitely was not fun. He had a few scrapes and bruises along his arms and face, the shoulder (and subsequent arm) he landed on was numb from pain, and the rest of his body ached as if he fell from the sky. Oh wait.
He rolled on his side to look in the direction Reku had been tossed. Shadic was not sure if he would even be able to get up, let alone be able to fight, but if Reku wanted to keep up the attack, he was going to try his best.
It looks Reku’s plan had succeeded, though not without consequences. A rock formation was placed in the direction he was thrown in. Moving too fast to completely stop in time, he used his flight to change his direction ever so slightly. The back of his shoulder clipped the rock hard, letting him decrease in speed fast but sending his body spinning into the ground. He landed on his chest, taking a moment to catch his breath. The shoulder that crashed into the rock was now dislocated due to the force of the impact, and his other arm went from numb to feeling like it had a million pins and needles in it.
He slowly got up and sat on his knees, covered in cuts and bruises. He used his arms and put it on his messed up shoulder and with a mental count to three, popped it back in. An immense pain tore through his entire arm, making Reku cry out in excruciating pain. He staggered to his feet before looking around to see where Shadic was. His body was hardly in a condition to go on any longer, but he refused to stop. He was compelled to fight. “Not yet…I’m not…yet done.” Reku muttered under his breath. He flew up in the air, having to force himself to go even half as fast as he originally was.
‘Where is he…He better not be hiding from me.’ Reku thought, flying back to the point he was thrown.
Shadic saw Reku floating into the sky over in the distance and he did not look good. Then again, it's hard to look good after plummeting through the sky and crashing into a hard rocky surface. The key thing was: Reku was still trying to fight. Shadic wondered, 'He just doesn't know when to quit does he?' Shadic noticed a nearby rock formation and used it to get to his feet. Every cell in his body was saying 'lay back down, curl up in a ball, stay there for a few months, you're good,' but Shadic was not the quitting type either.
He sputtered his way back into the air, his aura flickering every now and then to signify how weak his body was. Shadic took a second to land on one of the rock formations before floating back into the air. The sun's heat that was once so comforting and warm now felt like it was frying Shadic's open wounds. "You...you sure you don't wanna...quit now?" He asked, trying to catch his breath. The flight back up winded Shadic since his whole body was basically running on overdrive to keep him conscious.
He knew what Reku was going to say, so he got back in a fighting stance. His numb arm just hung at his side as Shadic stared down his opponent. While he waited for something to happen, he recalled his hammer. If they were still going to fight, he felt a lot better having his trusty weapon than his aching arms and legs.
Reku now floated in the air, staring at Shadic as he began to talk before getting in a fighting stance. He chuckled and then burst out into laughter for a while. “Are you kidding? Quit? I…. I’m just getting started.” He replied, his aura once again flaring to life. As the hammer returned to its owner, Reku tightened his fists, breathing heavy as he got into his own battle stance. He had no weapon of his own, but he determined to win. From it looked like, it seemed that Shadic wasn’t able to use one of his arms. He dashed towards Shadic, though his muscles were screaming in pain as he did so. While he was slower than before, he was still pretty fast. He through a punch towards Shadic’s face, starting the battle once again.
The hammer flew in as Shadic caught it with his good hand. With his trusty weapon in hand, the electricity radiating off it gave him almost like a jumpstart. His aura flashed back to life and stopped flickering, but Shadic was still far from healthy.
As Shadic suspected, Reku was far from done with this fight. Both battlers seemed to be in poor condition, but neither wanted to give up a potential victory. Almost immediately, Reku dashed in to continue the fight, throwing a much slower punch than before. Shadic narrowly ducked under the punch and swung his hammer towards his opponent's torso area. He was a lot more sluggish and was definitely out of practice when it came to fatigued fighting. In fact, Shadic could not remember the last time a fight pushed him to this point. He thought of ways to use his other arm, the limp one, for the remainder of the battle. While Reku may be just as injured as Shadic, he still had four limbs to help in battle.
‘Dammit.’ Reku thought when he used his weaker arm to catch the hammer in his palm, though the force definitely put more feeling back into it. The blow barely softened due to how damaged Reku’s arm was, but it was the difference between taking more damage or being down for the count. He flew back due to the force of the hammer. Perhaps close quarters was no longer such a good idea. It was time to switch to ranged combat. Flying back even further, Reku fired multiple ki blasts to keep Shadic where he was. What he had in mind may cost him the fight if done wrong, but at this point it was all he had left since he had barely had enough energy to use his ki in ways like the Kamehameha.
